Jack A. Goldstone (Ph.D. Harvard University) is Hazel Professor and Director of the Center for Global Policy at George Mason University, and a Scholar at the Mercatus Center. He is the author of Revolution and Rebellion in the Early Modern World (California 1981), and editor of The Encyclopedia of Political Revolutions (Congressional Quarterly 1998). He has received the Distinguished Contribution to Scholarship award of the American Sociological Association, the Arnoldo Momigliano Prize of the Historical Society, and fellowships from the ACLS and the MacArthur Foundation. He has been a consultant to the US State Department and the US Agency for International Development on support for fragile states. He is currently chair of a National Academy of Sciences research committee on evaluations of US democracy assistance.
